Frequently Asked Questions

Is this an approved and licensed course?

Yes! Our course is licensed by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) under License #CP613.

How long is the course, and do I have to finish it all at once?

Our TDLR-approved online defensive driving course is six hours long, which is the minimum required by Texas law. But don’t worry, you don’t have to complete it all in one sitting. It’s self-paced, so you can log in and out as often as you’d like. Finish it in one day or spread it out over several. It’s completely up to you.

How much does the course cost, and what’s included?

Our Texas Defensive Driving Course starts at $25, the lowest price allowed by law.
You can pay using Paypal which accepts Visa, MasterCard, Discover, or American Express.

 Your purchase includes:

  • No final exam — simple questions during the course count toward your grade
  • Certificate for the court and insurance emailed to you upon completion

What if I can’t finish the course all at once?

No problem. The course is self-paced, so you can log out anytime and pick up where you left off. Just sign back in with your driver’s license number and password whenever it works for you.

Can I switch devices while taking the course?

Yes, you can start on one device and finish on another. As long as you have internet access and a web browser, you’re good to go.

How long do I have to finish the course?

Most courts give you 90 days from the date you were approved to take defensive driving. If you’re not sure, it’s best to check with the court that issued your ticket. We recommend completing the course at least one week before your deadline to allow time for your certificate to be delivered to the court.

When will I get my completion certificate?

We send your certificate within 24 hours of finishing the course. It includes a unique certificate number that you’ll need to submit to the court yourself. You’ll receive the certificate as a PDF download, and we can also mail a physical copy for a small fee if you prefer.

Is my printable certificate accepted by the court?

Yes. We email you a PDF certificate that you can print yourself. Thanks to Texas law, courts are required to accept these student-printed certificates.

What if I lose my completion certificate?

No worries. We email you the certificate 24 hours after you finish the course, and you can always request another copy by contacting us. You can print out another copy of the certificate if it gets lost.

What if my course deadline has passed?

If you miss your deadline, contact the court right away to ask about getting an extension. It’s always best to finish the course on time, but if you’re late, see if the court will allow extra time to submit your certificate.

For ticket dismissal, can I choose any court or must I select the one on my citation?

You must select the county and court that issued your ticket. Your certificate needs to be submitted to the correct court. If you choose the wrong court, Texas law requires you to return the original certificate before we can issue a corrected one.

How do I get a copy of my Certified Type 3A Texas Driver Record?

You can order your Driver Record through us when you register. We’ll send it to you either by mail or as a downloadable email attachment. Many courts require you to submit this record along with your course completion certificate, so be sure to check with your court if it’s needed.
